Juniper in April, 2007.
|
| Juniper is a smaller-framed
Soay sheep. He is 1/2 RBST, and is classic wild pattern medium brown. He
has a slight dark mane. He is very active and alert at all times, yet is
not really wild. Juniper has given us some very nice medium brown wild
pattern Soay sheep lambs. Juniper also sired the light phase Blue Mountain
Red Deer, thus he is carrying light phase "hidden" at the brown
locus.
Juniper is registered with Soays Of America. Email for pricing. |

Basalt inAugust 2007.
|
Basalt in August, 2007
|
| Basalt is a VERY dark mouflon-pattern Soay, yet has a very light-colored belly. He apparently has very little pheomelanin (reddish-brown pigment) as he has almost no reddish tinge to his fleece. His horns are "turning out" (Ha!) to be very nice - large, a big curl, and widely spaced. Altogether he is a very handsome ram. He sired a self-colored (solid) black lamb in 2005, so he is proven to be carrying the self-colored agouti gene. Basalt is registered with SOA and MNSBAR. Email for pricing. |

Bunny and her black ram lamb in March, 2006.
|
Bunny and her black ram lamb in April, 2006.
|
|
Bunny is a medium to darker brown mouflon-pattern. She almost appears polled but actually has button scurs . Bunny is a fairly large Soay, but has nice conformation. She carries the self-colored black agouti gene, as she must since her dam is Blue Mountain Thumper, a self-colored black. As you see she also produced a self-colored black lamb in 2006. Bunny also has a white 'twink' on her poll, so is homozygous for the white spotting gene.Bunny is a calm Soay. Not overly friendly, but not very skittish either. She is a very good mother, attentive and providing lots of milk for her lamb. Email for pricing. |
Frosty in May 2006.
|
Frosty and her ram lamb Teton in 2006.
|
| Frosty is a medium to light brown NA
Soay with tiny button scurs (she almost appears polled). Her dam, Maria, had
almost no pheomelanin so there is almost no reddish cast in her coat, nor in her
daughter's, Frosty. Frosty is a medium, flat brown with a fairly coarse fleece.
Frosty has good-sized white spot on her poll. Frosty lambed in 2006 for
her first time and is a fine mother. Her 2007 ewe lamb, Saratoga, is a beautiful
light phase with white spotting very similar to her mother, except horned
instead of scurred.

2006 Ram Lambs
Esperanza and her twin ram lambs Chico (left) and Kitsap (right) in April, 2006. |
|
Woodland Creek Kitsap August-07.
March 2007 update. Chico is turning out to have a very interesting coat color and will be retained until I see his mature coat. |
|
Note that both Kitsap and Chico exhibit white spotting. Both have white poll spots - Kitsap just a wisp and Chico a 'twink'. Kitsap's color doesn't have as much reddish-brown as the classis RBST / Blue Mountain stock (compare to Nevada's coat). Kitsap is almost a grayish-brown. August 2008 update. Kitsap is turning out to have a very interesting coat color as he loses his "lambs wool", but I have too many rams so he is for sale. Email if interested. |
